Today is January 30th, Cameron's original due date. He is now 10 days old and these have been the best days of our life. Cam is so precious and is just a dream baby. He had a photo shoot today and we got some great pictures. These are the pictures I took, Veronica from http://www.nicaphotography.com/ will be getting me her professional pictures soon. Thank you again Veronica!! Can't wait to see them.
I've copied and pasted an email I sent out to our friends and family a few days after his arrival:
Oh my goodness!!! Brian and I...and the rest of our families are so in love with this little guy. I am finally getting a chance to get to my emails. Kristina did a fabulous job updating and sending pictures to everyone, thank you Krissy!! And, thank you to everyone for the phone calls, text messages, facebook messages (Brian has been reading me all of the posts). It really was wonderful getting all of the encouragement for labor and delivery and recovery.
It is our second night at home and I can't even describe the feeling of being a mom and how I truly enjoy taking care of Cameron. He is such a beautiful baby and I am honored to be his mom.
I also fell in love with Brian all over again. He was so amazing during labor and is the person you want in that room with you. He is loving being a father and is so good at it. He is now taking credit that this was all his idea and can't imagine life without him. He is such a proud papa!
Katie also gets the super friend award. She came to visit us when we were hanging out in the labor room and got stuck with us until 2:30 in the morning! I started having contractions about 4:00am on Wednesday and decided to go to my doctor that morning and that's when she told me I was in labor and she was admitting me to the hospital. The contractions weren't too bad and I got an epidural around 4pm. After that, there wasn't any pain at all, even during delivery. I started pushing around 11pm and delivered Cameron James Boyd at 1:10am on January 20th. I started pushing kind of suddenly while Big Jim, Sharon and Katie were in the waiting room and Katie's purse was trapped in delivery room so she couldn't leave. I have a feeling she would have stayed to the end anyway! Thank you Katie!!
When he first came out, he was having a little trouble transitioning which caused him to go to the NICU until about 11am the next morning. Brian and I were extremely distraught and worried, but after talking with the doctor, it only took him about an hour to be completely fine and they just kept him longer for observation. That being said, he gave us a good scare but we are so greatful that he is thriving now. He is feeding and sleeping/napping well, (had a rough night last night, but we're hoping tonight will be better). Grandma and Grandpa Boyd are oogling over him as much as possbile while they are here and they have been such a huge help. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa. We have been skyping with my family so they can see the newest addition to our family. This has been a very emotional time for my family. The day that I went into labor we buried my grandpa (my mom's dad) in Florida. Cameron is a true God send.
He's absolutely beautiful Susan and Brian. I can't begin to describe how happy I am for you. I know your joy... bottle it up so you can pull it out 20 years from now. Congratulations Mommy and Daddy. xoxo
